How to repaird corrupt zipped files

Posted by zee on June 9th, 2008 Comment »

Ever wondered how to fix your corrupt zip files? Well it usually happens when you transfer zipped files, download them or sometime leave them for a long time to return to see that “Ops they have gone corrupt”.What really happens is that some portion of the files do go corrupt while some portion is recoverable though you cannot recover or open it as when you try, it simply displays a message the file has gone corrupt.

So today we have zip repair, a free ware software that will repair you corrupted zipped files. The edge is if it cannot repair it, it will extract what it can. Usually what happens is zip tools check archives for integrity & If the CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) values of the original files of an archive don’t match the extracted ones, the standard tools won’t extract them. So at that point Zip Repair gets handy it tries to repair corrupt zip file. All you have to do is provide it the location and the zip Repair will show a list of files from you zip archive that can be repaired and extracted.

Its a real life saver in terms of data when you don’t want to loose all of it and still can get some of it. The software is a free ware so you can easily download from here and for further information you can take a look at there website.

Check Time around the globe with Google or Firefox

Posted by zee on May 15th, 2008 Comment »

As the globe is turning into a single marketplace regional clocks and keeping an eye on the time in different locations has become an important habit. What if you are working on a project where your designer is in Paris your programmers are in Germany & your Marketing team is in India with completely opposite timezones and remembering he no of hours of difference is quite difficult. So to solve this problem there are two way a Google way or the Firefox way.

Google has been a great help in that regard and i have been using it for a while, with google you can check the current time of any location around the globe by just typing location of the city or country in the Google search bar e.g. ( time : Paris ) and the result page will come up with the exact time of that location.

Another option for global time check could be with the help of Firefox Plugin, though if you want to keep a very strict eye on the clocks around different regions you can simply install FoxClocks , which lets you keep an eye on clocks around the world by putting up small clocks in your statusbar. You can set you own time formats, color code different clocks move them to toolbar or switch icons for it. FoxClock also comes packed with Zone Picker tree to browse virtually the world’s time zone by country / region or city.

Posted by zee on February 26th, 2008 Comment »

Apple Launched MacBook Pro Review
The macBook Pro model features the latest Intel Core 2 duo processor running upto 2.6Ghx with a 6MB of L2 cache.  The latest processor launched by intel on that performance is  t9500, t9300 , t8300 .

With addition to the processor Apple also updated the graphic processors to the latest NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB of video memory. Apart from the specs update apple has also introduced the multi touch gesture previously released in MacBook Air. You can pinch, swipe, or rotate by simply moving your fingers.

How much it costs ?

  • 15″  - 2.4Ghz = $1 999.0
  • 15″ - 2.5Ghz = $2499.00
  • 17″ - 2.5Ghz = $2799.00

Should you buy a MacBook Pro  or MacBook Air
MacBook Air is the worlds thinnest Notebook, we agree, its light and is very sleek one of the innovation that attracted allot was it had a multi touch gesture and was total wireless i.e. no ROM etc.  The MacBook Air the worlds thinnest PC is a 1.6Ghz or 1.8Ghz processor with a 13″ screen and costs around $1799.00 to $3098.00 means its slow, its just wireless and its way to expensive and buying it for the sake of its sleekness is ……………………..

On the other hand the multi touch features one of the only usefull feature in MacBook Air is not available in the new MacBook Pro. The pro is packed with really fast processor, supper fast and supper powerful then the MacBook Air and costs $1 999.0 for a 13″ display as compared to  MacBook Air starting at $1799.00 so for an added $100 you can get a MacBook Pro definitely not the worlds thinnest Notebook but the worlds fastest Notebook.

apple iPhone touch screen technology

Posted by zee on January 23rd, 2008 Comment »

With the iPhone initially and then iPod touch, the touch screen systems are becoming more and more common. The apple’s new innovation Mac Air’s mouse pad is its self a multi touch screen. But how does this all stuff work. Touch screen is not a new phenomina introduced by Apple rather, Apple computers just specialized and refined the technology to greater level and placed it direcly in the consumers hands, though as far as i remeber Microsoft was yet another company who had build the touch screen with there product Surface but the mistake they made they never made it for regular consumers. “Greed Kills” rather build it for corporations and once after launch we never heard about it as far as i see the Product build by Microsoft was more complex then iPhone but still it wasn’t for average joe.

Ever wondered how the the touch screen works, its quite interesting how the simple and unique the technology is.
