If you are a video site fan and spend allot of time watching online videos or tv shows then we got an essential firefox pluign for you. YouPlayer a video player with playlist similar to winamp inside your browser.

What is youPlayer?

YouPlayer is a firefox Add one that adds a video player right inside your browser. The player has an interface similar to Winamp and support multiple file formats like, mpeg, rm, avi along with video from online video sharing sites like youtube, MetaCafe, MySpace etc.

You can create play list with the player by simply dragging and dropping the files or links into the player and then double click to play the files. A must have plugin to list down videos of your choice into a playlist and then watch them over the browser.

As the player is build inside the browser so with YouPlayer you donot need stop your browsing you can watch videos while you browse the net.

How can it Improve or our Idea
So far the youPlayer only lists a playlist but a major improvement would be saving those play lists and then sharing it with your friends or even digging it along the site.

Which Site do youPlayer support ?
Currently supported sites: Google Video, MetaCafe, MySpace and YouTube. You cal also even drag local files from hard drive into playlist and watch them!

So far 400,000+ downloads!

How does it work ?
Simple first install the plugin from here and then once configured i.e. restart your firefox and start dragging and dropping links of video into the player.

Where should i get it ?

You player is a complete freeware and can be downloaded from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5709 & supports Firefox 2.0 & 3.0.

So finally Google jumps into the browser world and comes with the most simpler form of its browser called Chrome.

Since we spend so much time online, we began seriously thinking about what kind of browser could exist if you started from scratch and built on the best elements out there. We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that’s what we set out to build.

So today we’re releasing the beta version of a new open source browser: Google Chrome.

Being in the beta phase Chrome seems like a minimal browser with a very few handpicked features by Google. If i compare Google’s Chrome with other browsers of the industry then in terms of features and functionality Chrome is way behind Firefox or even IE. Yes Chrome is minimal with a nice simple design not over cluttered with features and functionality works quite quickly but it does crash, it does not improve or enhance your browser experience, very little option of customization & of course a long way to go for Google to have a huge user base for Chrome.

Future of Chrome Browser

In near future Chrome is not going to do much, its news of the day and people are going to crawl over it but very few are going to stick to it. In a few days its going be history unless a revolutionary stable and strong version is released by Google which improves our browsing experience, change the way we look at web / video / files.

Chrome lacks performance & Crashes allot

Keeping in view of the very few features and innovation in this release Chrome didn’t perform the way i though it would a minimal design didn’t help either the browser does lack muscle and could not sustain my browsing load of opening up at least 20 – 30 pages in tabs. Every time we open a tab in Chrome a new process is created thus if a tab crashes then it does not take the whole browser down with it like Firefox rather only tab gets closed. Although Google is proud of this feature they created but there is one big lag to it, the more tabs you open the slower the browser becomes this is something that i experienced today & with more tabs the 404 errors and page not found starts popping up and eventually if you put in more pressure the browser crashes & here is how it looks like.

Crash Screen of Google Chrome

How to Crash Google’s Chrome in Windows XP.

You can even crash Google’s Chrome yourself, sImple first open two or three tabs then press [ctr+del] or go to Task Manger, go to process and end task on one of the chrome.exe & you just crashed a Tab.

Microsoft Rejects Chrome to be a New Browser

Another interesting fact if you happen to log on to Hotmail you will notice a warning message on top stating:

More Flaws in Googles New Browser Chrome.

Google’s shiny new Web browser is vulnerable to a carpet-bombing vulnerability that could expose Windows users to malicious hacker attacks. It has been reported High risk of vulnerable carpet-bombing a malicious hacker can use a clever social engineering lure — it requires two mouse clicks — to plant malware on Windows desktops. The Google Chrome user-agent shows that Chrome is actually WebKit 525.13 (Safari 3.1), which is an outdated/vulnerable version of that browser. [ Source zdnet ]

Features

Web search. Web history. Address bar. Suggestions as you type. One unified box serves all your browsing needs

Every time you open a new tab, you’ll see a visual sampling of your most visited sites, most used search engines, and recently bookmarked pages and closed tabs.

Use web apps without opening your browser. Application shortcuts can directly load your favorite online apps.

You can drag tabs out of the browser to create new windows, gather multiple tabs into one window or arrange your tabs however you wish — quickly and easily.

Every tab you’re using is run independently in the browser, so if one app crashes it won’t take anything else down.

Don’t want pages you visit to show up in your web history? Choose incognito mode for private browsing.

Google Chrome warns you if you’re about to visit a suspected phishing, malware or otherwise unsafe website.

Want to bookmark a web page? Just click the star icon at the left edge of the address bar and you’re done.

When you switch to Google Chrome, you can pick up where you left off with all the bookmarks and passwords from your existing browser.

No intrusive download manager; you see your download’s status at the bottom of your current window.

Oh yes Firefox3 broke the Guinness world record, well of course they did it reason being there is no other record to broken so no matter how many downloads they got the Guinness world record was to be made.

So Mozilla Firefox did make a Guinness world record of the most downloaded software within 24hours. The number of downloads went up to 7378216. But there is bit confusion on that as well. If you check on the home page of spreadfirefox on the right top you will find a heading with blue background stating Firefox downloads : 579137807 [check here] & if you look on the world record page with the map of the world you will find downloads : 7378216.[check here]

So which is the actual value & this does put doubts in its authentication as well.

FireFox 3 Review

Apart from that most important promise of the Firefox was fullfilled with the new version, yes Firefox3 is much faster then Firefox2 & Internet Explorer. The new tabs & new windows open really quickly.

The interface is more mature and decent not bad indeed, some hidden and interesting feature have been added one of my favorite is the ability to drag any image from a website to a folder on your desktop no need to use save image as.

The Website ID feature is quite cool and protects from phishing and help authenticate the sites who have purchased certificates for authentication like paypal, ebay. This feature has been added to the Firefox’s new Smart Location bar. The location bar has been the core focus of development, and have integrated three great features to it, one was the website ID click on the favicon on location bar and you can see its ID to verify its authentication. Second you can simple bookmark any site with only one click by clicking the star on the location bar or usding [ctr + d]. Thirdly once you type your address there is a list of recomendation which do have a flaw as it shows the Title of the site and its URL and sometimes its difficult to find the exact URL.

Apart from more on the features can be checked out at Mozilla Firefox3 Features
