Verizon Wireless today announce Blackberry Storm, a phone with touch screen and is being called an iPhone competitor.

BASKING RIDGE, NJ, NEWBURY, England, and WATERLOO, Ontario — Verizon Wireless, Vodafone Group (NYSE and LSE: VOD) and Research In Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM; TSX: RIM) today announced that the BlackBerry® Storm™ will be available later this fall, exclusively to Verizon Wireless customers in the U.S. and Vodafone customers in Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand.

Blackberry Storm

Blackberrry Storm features a 3.25-inch touch screen which is responsive just like the iPhone. Unlike iPhone, the touch screen for Blackberry comes with an added feature of confirmation before launching an application or initiating any process during which the full screen becomes a large button that confirms a user’s selecting when pressed, while in iPhone it just swipe or errant tap can launch an application or action.”Consumers and business customers alike will appreciate this unique combination of a large and vibrant screen with a truly tactile touch interface,” said RIM co-chief executive Mike Lazaridis.

Blackberry Storm comes with a full HTML browser, GPS, a music and video player, a motion-sensing accelerometer, and a menu that responds to swipes and taps for panning and zooming. It will soon offer a VZ App Zone that will sell established BlackBerry applications and, in the future, applications built specifically for the Storm using a software developer kit released today. It has a removable battery, a 3.2-megapixel camera with video capture, stereo Bluetooth, cut-and-paste editing features and built-in picture messaging. In addition to handling two bands of EVDO Rev A high-speed service, it supports four bands of Edge and one band of HSPA, making it available to users in more than 200 countries.

Rich Garwood, a Verizon Wireless regional president, said that mix of consumer and corporate functionality should make the Storm a big seller with a wide range of customers. “When you look at the design and high-tech and multimedia features, we think this will appeal to consumers,” Garwood said. “But we’re also getting a huge response from enterprise customers, people who have used BlackBerry in the past and are comfortable with the security and e-mail of BlackBerry.”

iPhone faces its first competition with the launch of HTC Touch Diamond. HTC touch just like iPhone is getting the label of innovative phone, powered with a ground breaking 3D touch interface called Vibrant TouchFLOTM 3D user interface which will respond perfectly to your finger gestures when scrolling through contacts, browsing the web, and launching media. HTC Touch comes with a 2.8″ touchscreen which will even work if you are wearing a glove, the touch screen is quick and responsive due to smooth TouchFLO 3D interface & It provides animated access to contact, messaging, photos & music. The screen & VGA resolution are crisp and auto adjusts its back light based on the lighting conditions of the environment.

Apart from touch innovation there is a major performance that has made HTC touch Diamon a major competitor to the iPhone. The phone supports Mobile Broadband download and upload speeds & includes WiFi support. The ultra fast 3.5G technology lets you surf and download at true broadband speeds. On HSDPA networks, the Touch HDTM delivers down link speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps – there is no need to slow down while you work or play. You can enjoy music, videos & films streaming like you never thought was possible on a mobile device. The internet browsing is so fast that it feels like you are using your home laptop. The phone is also packed with a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus.

What are its specifications ?

HTCK Touch comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus

Surf and download at broadband speed with HSDPA internet connectivity

Google Maps enhanced by the wide screen viewing platform

5 megapixel camera for quality stills and video

3.5 mm audio jack makes the Touch HDTM compatible with the majority of audio equipment available

Up to 384 kbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds

Bluetooth® 2.0 with EDR Wi-Fi®: IEEE 802.11 b/g HTC ExtUSB™ (11-pin mini-USB 2.0 and audio jack in one)

Rechargeable Lithium-ion or Lithium-ion polymer battery Capacity: 900 mAh

Talk Time upto Up to 330 minutes for GSM

Main camera: 3.2 megapixel color camera with auto focus

Second camera: VGA CMOS color camera

How much does it cost ?

In comparison to iPhone HTC touch might seem a bit expensive, HTC touch is costing around $800 (the unlocked version) and above. But there is a catch HTC touch does not require you to sign up or buy a plan for the phone like iPhone and if compared to this HTC touch Diamond becomes much cheaper then iPhone.

Is apple getting ready again to shake the word, with iPhone will there be a Macbook touch, will we be free from the keyboards, mouse and will only interact with our computers using the touch screens, will it be accessible for all computer users.

Well the Rumor has started picking up, ‘Mac Daily News‘ reports Apples Secret Product Macbook Touch and Gizmodo says it too ‘Rumor:MacBook Touch coming in Oct‘.

Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion’s haptic tech. Slot-loading Super Drive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at “low” price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest. In all honesty, we may have passed this story up, but we’ve heard vague reports from reliable sources that Quanta is busy building a touch product for Apple. This latest information seems seems to compliment what we’ve heard
