Google Vs Microsoft on Yahoo Accusation
Posted by zee on February 3rd, 2008The famous Generous Big by Microsoft to acquire Yahoo for 46.5 billion dollars is taking yet another exciting turn, so far the big amount is way beyond its limit which is putting serious concerns on the intentions of Microsoft. The most worried company on this accusation deal is Google as previously Google had two competitors Yahoo & Microsoft when combined together there will be one competition to Google. Today Google released a press statement on which Microsoft responded immediately seems more like a corporate war going open in press check it out below what they have to say.
What Google Says about Microsoft Offer to Acquire Yahoo Inc.
Posted by David Drummond, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer
The openness of the Internet is what made Google — and Yahoo! — possible. A good idea that users find useful spreads quickly. Businesses can be created around the idea. Users benefit from constant innovation. It’s what makes the Internet such an exciting place.
So Microsoft’s hostile bid for Yahoo! raises troubling questions. This is about more than simply a financial transaction, one company taking over another. It’s about preserving the underlying principles of the Internet: openness and innovation.
Could Microsoft now attempt to exert the same sort of inappropriate and illegal influence over the Internet that it did with the PC? While the Internet rewards competitive innovation, Microsoft has frequently sought to establish proprietary monopolies — and then leverage its dominance into new, adjacent markets.
Could the acquisition of Yahoo! allow Microsoft — despite its legacy of serious legal and regulatory offenses — to extend unfair practices from browsers and operating systems to the Internet? In addition, Microsoft plus Yahoo! equals an overwhelming share of instant messaging and web email accounts. And between them, the two companies operate the two most heavily trafficked portals on the Internet. Could a combination of the two take advantage of a PC software monopoly to unfairly limit the ability of consumers to freely access competitors’ email, IM, and web-based services? Policymakers around the world need to ask these questions — and consumers deserve satisfying answers.
This hostile bid was announced on Friday so there is plenty of time for these questions to be thoroughly addressed. We take Internet openness, choice and innovation seriously. They are the core of our culture. We believe that the interests of Internet users come first — and should come first — as the merits of this proposed acquisition are examined and alternatives explored.

Microsoft Answer to Google’s Concerns
REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 3, 2008 – The combination of Microsoft and Yahoo! will create a more competitive marketplace by establishing a compelling number two competitor for Internet search and online advertising. The alternative scenarios only lead to less competition on the Internet.
Today, Google is the dominant search engine and advertising company on the Web. Google has amassed about 75 percent of paid search revenues worldwide and its share continues to grow. According to published reports, Google currently has more than 65 percent search query share in the U.S. and more than 85 percent in Europe. Microsoft and Yahoo! on the other hand have roughly 30 percent combined in the U.S. and approximately 10 percent combined in Europe.
Microsoft is committed to openness, innovation, and the protection of privacy on the Internet. We believe that the combination of Microsoft and Yahoo! will advance these goals.

Well, BOOOO for Microsoft. Yahoo is Yahoo, and it should stay like that. That being said, have they ever wondered WHY more than 80% of the people use Google for searching the internet? … duhhh … may be because the result relevancy is really good and they don’t try to PUSH-SELL you sponsored links and rather only UP-SELL ? … try searching for a term via MS and they’d try to sell you the sponsored links first that have NOTHING to do with relevancy and would end up ANNOYING you. Also, if I’m using a slow internet connection then I can’t even THINK about searching via Microsoft. Yahoo is better. What Microsoft SHOULD do is get a bit more innovative and invest in developing their own ideas to sell. Heck, the only product that I like is their .NET framework and Server edition of windows because they DO give some good stuff there. They SHOULD come out of the BOX now
… Hehehe, think “Stewie” from Family Guy. The attitude reminds you of him. CHEERS!
