Semantic Search Engine
Posted by zee on January 29th, 2008Web2.0 in some terms was a hoax, or a terminology used to define the evolution of web, but the web3.0 is the future of web also known as Semantic Web. Unfortunately Semantic Web or web3.0 its self is under developments, the concepts and ideas are evolving and the the direction of web will be headed to words Semantic Agents that will analyze data, understand data and share it across different mediums.
The Semantic Web is an evolving extension of the World Wide Web in which web content can be expressed not only in natural language, but also in a format that can be read and used by software agents, thus permitting them to find, share and integrate information more easily.[1] It derives from W3C director Tim Berners-Lee’s vision of the Web as a universal medium for data, information, and knowledge exchange.
So far semantic applications have not yet popped up, and in my personal view Google will be the first one to put a claim for a semantic application, reason being availability of massive amount of user data collected organized and capable of sharing it across different applications. (Google Api’s, different google services interacting and sharing information).
Recently i happen to review lumifi’s interactive research platform, though they haven’t yet claimed to be semantic application, but some how it might be close to what we can imagine of the future web. There interactive platform is build for academic and research communities to socially interact and share and search informations.
