Watch your favorite tv shows on Hulu outside USA for free
Posted by zee on January 18th, 2008 197 Comments »Unfortunately Hulu Invitations have packed up, all the sites that were offering Hulu invitations are out of invitations and i was one of the lucky person to get an invite on time, though for a few weeks it didn’t run well reason being i was accessing Hulu outside USA. And every time i tried to access Hulu i got the message below :
“Unfortunately this video is not currently available in your country, region. We apologize for this inconvenience.”
So here is a simple easy way to watch Hulu :
But firstly :
What is Hulu.com ? http://www.hulu.com
Hulu offers current primetime shows like The Office, Prison Break, Bionic Woman, House and Bones, and episodes from TV classics like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Miami Vice, Arrested Development , Family Guy, Simpsons and more(trust me they got it all) . In simple terms all the favourit shows on which we spend rediculous amount of money in buying DVD’s are now available on Hulu.com and you can watch it for free of cost. (I am enjoying the Family Guy’s 6th Season thanks Hulu)
The Issue of Hulu Access across the world ?
Hulu provides content directly from the network’s so the content is copyright protected and for legal reasons they have restricted its access around the globe, if a Family Guys Episodes is aired on Tv in USA it should only be accessible to the internet users from USA. They check this via our IP address.
Bi-pass Hulu Restrictions and Watch Hulu outside USA ?
So far there are two solution to bi-pass restriction to watch Hulu :

i was on the beta from almost the begging and then right as it opened up to the public I had to take a tip to germany and had nothing much to do and was bummbing that I couldent watch any hulu programming while I was stuck over here in europe but now it works perfectley and I am sooo thankfull for it

I got the hotspot shield and it worked well for a few days but then apparently i went over there 10 gig usage limit and it stopped working in the middle of a show then i tried the other program you suggested and sense I am on a mac that didn’t work for me now if anyone can suggest some other form of connecting to it it would be well appreciated

UltraReach worked in Brasil too, but just on IE. Firefox can’t be used.

niiice, this is excellent. Use of proxies can be so tiring and slow-paced its nice to have an easier alternative. Geo-targeting is becoming more and more common and leaving people like us (in the UK) out in the cold.

Hi, I can confirm Hotspot Shield makes hulu work in Israel, too. however, since the program uses a far away American proxy, it slows the connection down.

Tested Hulu with Hotspot Shield. Works perfect. Don’t forget to switch Hotspot Shield of when you stop watching videos, it slows your internetconnection down.

HotSpotShield works great with my Playon! connected to my XBox 360. I can use my Hulu account to watch American programming on my TV in Japan. 100MB Fiber to the house doesn’t hurt either.

Hotspotshield has a bandwidth limit of 3GB now. Once you have reached that for the month it will not work and will need to wait until the next month when it refreshes the bandwidth identified by your original IP. Ultrareach works only on windoze not OSX.

In order to see videos on official US sites from abroad you’ll need to use a proxy service.
Easiest way to do it is to google “anonymous proxy” for list of proxy IP addresses.
Choose any address then go to you browser settings ( Something like “Tools>Internet options>Connections>Lan Settings..>and check “Enable proxy” and enter the prioxy ip address you got earlier.
That’s it
Also if you are using iGoogle as a home page, heres great gadget watch ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC shows online to help you to access most major channels prime time shows online on their official sites fast and easy.
Here is what you need to do : On your iGoogle home page click on “Add Stuff” link in upper right corner. It will open gadget central and search for “Watch ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC shows online” to locate that gadget.

Romania here ..i tried to download ultra reach, but Eset Smart security terminates the connection, saying that it’s trojan infected…i tried both the download links from their site, both the archive , and the executable .

I’m in Canada and have written about Hotspot Shield and Hulu on my blog before. Lately, however, HSS doesn’t seem to work reliably. I’m not sure if this is due to the growing popularity of the software choking access or if Hulu has begun tracking the HSS/Verio ISP IP addresses from Englewood, Colorado. For Firefox users:
you need to download the Firefox Add-On from the UltraReach homepage, unzip the file, drag the unzipped file on an open Firefox window and install the add-on.
Then you have a “button” in the right bottom of your Firefox status bar.
In order for UltraSurf to work you need to start UltraSurf, then open Firefox and click on the “WJ Disabled” button, which is red. When UltraSurf is working this button will turn green and the text will say “WJ Enabled”.
That’s all.
Works nice for me in Germany.

Hulu recently banned hotshield users from accessing their site. There are still dozens of paid alternatives though. The one I use when I’m traveling is http://www.hidemynet.com , it’s a low fee of 5 USD per month and I’ve never had any problems using it.

UKiVPN.com still works perfectly.
Originally it was for allowing access to the whole Internet from restricted areas, but it has become a popular way to watch hulu, iPlayer, etc. Works everywhere and also allows access to Youtube, Pandora, etc. Costs 5GBP / 8USD. Currently getting over 2Meg through it. Finally I can watch again.

ultrasurf is MUCH FASTER than the hotspot shield! (no chrome though, only IE!) thanks for this prog! WORKS LIKE A CHARME HERE IN FRANCE!!

it works here in the philippines and on firefox too, thanks! at first it stopped working and i happened upon this accidentally.
turn off your ‘block pop-up’ settings under options and click on a link that will allow a pop-up to open another browser. then try hulu. if it doesn’t work at first, try the pop-ups several times, there are some spam that will override hulu and the hotspot shield will kick in.

when u use ultrareach hulu recognizes that your using a proxy server and tells you to stick it

Ultrareach failed in Sweden

I tried to open it with Ultra Surf.But it wont lay the clip.The initial ad plays but then there is streaming.

Funny reading these comments from noobs who have no idea how this works. If it works, it does so only because your UltraSurf or HotSpot client connected to a proxy which is not yet detected (banned) by Hulu. Tomorrow it might not work anymore and after tomorrow it may work again. It doesn’t have anything to do with your country.

Ultrasurf works perfect in Mexico City. I was able to watch Netflix and Hulu without any problems.

This is what I get with ultrareach.
“Based on your IP address, we noticed you are trying to access Hulu through an anonymous proxy tool…” and bla bla.
Anyone overcome this problem yet?

I found Hulu and it looks amazing…. but I can’t watch the show I want to. I have been trying to find a place where I can watch the “Amazing Race” I found the amazing race on hulu but not the show. Why? It would be great if you could help. thanks =]

With Hotspot Shield I could connect to Hulu with my Windows XP laptop, but not with my Windows Vista Desktop. It looks like with Vista there is another security measure that makes acces to Hulu impossible by unsig Hotspot Shield (i’m living in the Netherlands)

Damn! They’ve discovered HotSpot Sheild! It says something along the lines of ‘Based on your IP address, we noticed you are trying to access Hulu through an anonymous proxy tool’ :/

Is there not some sort of plugin for firefox that will parce through a list of proxies, found online, until one finds one that hulu has not banned yet, perhaps combined with some sort of proxy trawling function.
SwitchProxy, ProxyButton, QuickProxy, xyzproxy, ProxyTex, or Foxyproxy? The latter (at least) sells proxies. But it would be a bitch to buy a proxy and then have Hulu block it.
This sort of software looks quite hard to use, but it could be automated. (search and import list of proxies> filter for us proxies> parce list> click here if it does not work.)

people in unused countries should use ultrasurf software its free and works on IE and google chrome dont know about the rest.
