Yahoo Buzz another failed attempt
Posted by zee on March 8th, 2008Today i reviewed the famous Yahoo Buzz, the new service launched by Yahoo which in some people’s word is a close replica of Digg. Just like all the services of Yahoo, Yahoo buzz requires you to log in using a Yahoo account. Once logged in all you can do is review a story and place your vote on it. Thats it !

Unfortunately like all the new launches by Yahoo i think the Yahoo buzz also sucks, if you are a user at digg you probably would not prefer to even visit Yahoo Buzz so let me sum up why Yahoo buzz sucks:
Why Yahoo Buzz Sucks:
Once logged in all you can do at Yahoo Buzz is Buzz Up the story, yes just like dugg once you Buzz Up the story it get a point and the shinney new layout says thankYou. If you don’t like the story you cannot buzz it down nopes all they need is positive votes you don’t make a choice in simple terms “either like it or leave it”.
Secondly you cannot add a comment, you cannot add a new story if you are an end user, all you do is vote it up or email it to a friend or share it on other network sites like digg, stumble upon etc.
Why did they build it?
This is the same question that rose into my mind, why did yahoo build it whats the catch, well Yahoo buzz is for serious publishers like Times, NyTime, US Today and such huge newspapers who want to increase the traffic to there website, when these publications sign up for Yahoo buzz then Yahoo buzz promises them that if there story get most votes and becomes popular it would reach the front page of Yahoo and will add tremendous traffic to there site.
Apart from that it will also help Yahoo to build relationships with such publishers to whom they can further sign up for other Yahoo services like Yahoo search, or Yahoo advertisment.
